The Buildings of Madrid might not be as tall as the ones in New York or Tokyo, but the city is full of, sometimes unknown, amazing rooftop terraces, where you can spend a chill afternoon or a romantic night out. As summer is already here, we have decided to present you some of the best rooftops of our city. Avoid the heat and get to know Madrid a little better with a fresh mojito and a perfect view!

Azotea del Circulo de las Bellas Artes

Probably Madrid´s most famous rooftop and definitely Mad4You’s number one choice for our guests. Apart from hosting a mesmerizing view of the whole city, this building is a multidisciplinary centre with activities ranging from visual art to literature. The Circulo was founded in 1880, thanks to the efforts of a small group of artists. During the early years of 1900 important figures such as Jacinto Benavente and the young Picasso used to hang out here and express their art. For only 4 euros you can access the terrace and enjoy a drink, a beautiful view and one of the most amazing atmospheres you can find in our city. Success guaranteed!

Location: Calle de Alcalá, 42 (7th Floor <M> Banco de España

Gymage Lounge Resort

Located on top of one of Madrid’s most exclusive gyms and fitness centres (the Gymage). This cool lounge bar looks over the lively streets of Malasaña; our beloved neighbourhood. Make sure you get there early in order to get a good spot to sit, enjoy the sun and a drink by the pool. It is open all year long and it is literraly 5 minutes away from our Hostel!

Location: Calle de La Luna, 2 (rooftop of Gymage Gym) <M> Callao

Room Mate Oscar Hotel Rooftop

Looking for a romantic place? Like a Balinese bed on which to sip a glass of wine, and the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a loved one or your travel friends? Then La Terraza de Oscar is the rooftop bar for you! Located on top of Chueca’s most popular Hotel: Room Mate Oscar Hostel, it has a swimming pool and the best atmosphere for a nice night out! And now that the Gay Pride is full on, fun in Chueca and on this rooftop is guaranteed!

Location: Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, 12 (7th Floor) <M> Sevilla

Mercado Barceló Rooftop

This urban oasis is the perfect shelter from the Madrid’s summer heat. Thanks to its fresh vegetation that oxigenate the place and decorates it at the same time, the atmosphere is unique and immersed in green. The various kinds of plants (from bambu to magnolia) divide the more informal area for drinks and snacks from the dining and the relaxing areas with big cuschions and chill out music in the background. We love it!

Location: Calle Barceló, 6 <M> Tribunal

Skynight Rooftop Hotel Silken Puerta de América

A little bit more further away from our Hostel but definitely worth a visit, especially if you are in the mood for some party. Infact, here they often organized house- and electronic music sessions on Sunday afternoons (sometimes completely free!) and on Saturday nights. Dance the night away with a breathaking view of the skyline of Madrid. We want to see you come back to the Hostel in the morning, happily exhausted!

Location: Avenia de America, 41<M> Avenida de America

El Paracaidista

El Paracaidista is a fairly new Concept Store in Malasaña. The ground floor is a cine-café-galery, the first floor is a design store, the third one is a bar and finally the rooftop is a beautiful restaurant. It is incredibly close to our Hostel and we think it is the new hidden gem of our nieghborhood. Food is delicious (try the veggie pizza or the pulled pork burger!) and the view cannot be more “Madrilenian.” Perfect for a different afternoon filled with design and creativity!

Location: Calle Palma, 10<M> Tribunal
