What is better than going out and dancing to Salsa- or Bachata music on a hot summer night in Madrid, Spain? Not much, if you ask us. Let loose and dance like nobody is watching. Madrid is full of life, especially during the night.

For our blog of this month we would like to introduce you to some excellent Salsa and Bachata clubs, where you will be able to dance the night away. And do not be afraid to feel the need to bring a partner, as these clubs it is very common to be asked to dance by very handsome (Latin) men.

Below we will first share with you the clubs of which we believe you will be able to experience true Latin fever. After, we will recommend a few dance schools, in case you feel the need to learn some Latin dance moves before hitting a club. Keep on reading and soon you will be a true Latin dance pro!




Tropical House (Plaza de los Mostenses, 11)

The name says it all; at Tropical House you can hear the finest Latin tunes. You can join classes of Salsa, Cuban Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. Bring your dance partner or find someone there to practice your moves with. From Mad4You Hostel you can walk within 8 minutes to Tropical House. Their opening times are as follows:

·         Friday from 00:00 till 06:00

·         Saturday from 00:00 till 06:00

·         Sunday from 22:00 till 02:00 (approximately)

Discoteca Azúcar (Calle de Atocha, 107)

Discoteca Azúcar is one of the most popular clubs amongst the Latin crowd of Madrid. If you decide to go, prepare yourself to see some serious professionals on the dance floor. The tunes that you hear at this place are mostly Salsa, Bachata or Kizomba. You can walk from Mad4You Hostel to Discoteca Azucár by crossing the city center of Madrid from north to south. This will take you around 30 minutes. But, in case you are wearing classy dance shoes, you can also take the metro from Tribunal metro station to Atocha metro station (Line 1 – light blue). The program at Azúcar is as follows:

·         Thursday: Bachata and Salsa classes from 22:00-23:30 and Social SBK* till 03:30

·         Friday: Salsa classes from 22:00-23:30 and Social SBK* till 03:30

·         Saturday: Bachata classes from 22:00-23:30, Social Salsa Merengue Bachata

*SBK: Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba

And the prices are:

·         Entrance + 1 drink: 8€

·         Entrance + 2 soft drinks/beers: 10€

·         Entrance + 2 drinks: 12€

The entrance fee includes the classes, in case you want to join them, and also the party afterwards, which they call social Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba. So, Social SBK means that you can party freely, without a dance-instructor, on Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba music.

 The Host (Calle Ferraz, 38)

The Host is not only a Latin club, but it is also a famous meeting point for lovers of Latin-dance. The space of the club is quite ample, and the decorations and lightning are pretty cool. At this place you can listen to Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Afro-rumba, Tango, Salsa Hip-Hop and Street Dance.

The Host is also quite fancy, offering valet parking and a VIP area where you can reserve a private table, if you are in for an extravagant night out.

Their events during the week are as follows:

·         Tuesday: Kizomba Open: classes from 21:00-23:00 and party from 23:00-03:00

·         Wednesday: Bachatea: classes from 21:00-23:00 and party from 23:00-03:00

·         Thursday: Bachatea Sensual: classes from 21:00-23:00 and party from 23:00-03:00

·         Friday: Bachatea: classes from 22:00-00:00 and party from 00:00-05:30

·         Saturday: BahiaMadrid: party from 00:00-05:30

·         Sunday: Kizomba Bisu: classes from 20:00-22:00 and party from 22:00-02:30

Discoteca El Son (Calle de la Victoria, 6)

Just around the corner of Puerta del Sol, which is the main square in the city center of Madrid and also known as the ¨heart of Madrid¨, you can find Discoteca El Son. This club is one of the most famous and comercial Latin clubs of Madrid. You can run into all sorts of crowds at this place. The music they play is Salsa and Caribbean tunes and the environment is great to dance and also to relax for a little at the bar, while sipping on a Cuban mojito or daiquiri made by one of their handsome bartenders. People say that, amongst the crowd, there are professional dancers inviting people to dance at Discoteca El Son, taking care that nobody ever stands still. At this place you will have a great night, guaranteed! Their opening times are from Tuesday to Saturday from 22:00 to 06:00 and the entrance fee is around 20€, always with a drink included.

Discoteca Mitty Cats Madrid (Calle Julián Romea, 4 – Metro: Gúzman el Bueno)

If you are an (Erasmus) student or a student on exchange in Madrid, Discoteca Mitty Cats Madrid, with a capacity of 1.400 people, is the club you are looking for. This club is the place to meet and great for students living in- or visiting Madrid. They organize thematic parties themselves, but you can also rent the space to organize your own party. The music they play is comercial music, but mainly you will hear reggeaton and dagger-tunes to dance to all night long. Mitty Cats is a great place to make new friends and to let your inner-Latin-dancer out. Their opening times are as follows:

·         Thursday: from 00:00-5:30

·         Friday: from 00:00-6:00

·         Saturday: from 00:00-6:00

And the entrance fee is 10 with one drink included. After that, drinks start at 5€ (depending on the brand of liquor you choose), which is a pretty good deal for Madrid prices.

Salsabachata Quevedo (Calle Cercedilla, 3)

At dance school Salsabachata Quevedo they offer a ¨free first class¨ for all levels. The music styles that they work with include Funky, Bachata, Flamenco, Afrocubano, Mambo, Zumba, Kizomba, Salsa Cubana, Twerk, Pole Dance, Afrobeats, Dancehall, Tango, Bollywood and Salsa. So, as you can see, they have loads of types of music to learn to dance to.

Salsabachata Quevedo is just a 20-minute walk from Mad4You Hostel and, in our opinion, definitely worth a visit if you are interested in learning how to dance to Latin rhythms. (Please note that the classes start from the 3rd of September)

Kilatinum (Calle San Bernardo, 20)

If you are coming to Madrid with a group of friends and want to do something fun together, then Kilatinum is your place. At this dance school you can rent a private space and get private classes just with your group of friends before hitting the club. You can learn to dance to Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zumba, Pole Dance, Flexi, Country, Swim and many more. Prices for private classes start at 20 per hour and you can reserve on their website www.kilatinum.es. This dance school is only 6 minutes walking from Mad4You Hostel. We say: get your friends excited and practice your moves so you can show them off at the clubs of Madrid.

Círculo de Baile (Plaza del Conde del Valle de Súchil, 3)

Dance school Círculo de Baile is around the corner of Mad4You Hostel, just a 10-minute walk. They offer many types of dance classes, of which many are based on Latin music. You can learn to dance on Latin Rythms, Tango, Samba, Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba, Zumba and a typical Spanish one: Sevillanas. Classes are offered to beginners, intermediate, semi-experienced and experienced dancers. You can reserve private classes or join one of their group classes. Their opening hours are as follows:

·         Monday to Friday: from 10:00-23:00

·         Saturday: from 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-23:00

·         Sunday: from 17:00-23:00

Prices may vary and therefore we recommend you to contact Círculo de Baile explaining them your wishes and confirmed the prices.
